GIS Applications: Crime Mapping
Crime
mapping or “pin mapping” provides a graphical display of
crimes and/or incidents within a jurisdiction using GIS
(Geographic Information System) mapping in conjunction
with data obtained in the field via incident reports and
other public safety records stored digitally. This
application can provide public safety officials with the
ability to perform a simple analysis of crime trends and
compare enforcement vs. incident. |
